Review Topic: K1 Visa

My fiance had her visa interview on September 29th. She said that many people were there and that she had to wait for quite sometime to finally have the interview. Unfortunately I wasn't there so I am doing the review the best that I can based on what she told me. When she did get called back for the interview she was only in the interview for about 10 minutes, the interview was done by a young man and he offered to do the interview in either Russian or English. She chose Russian and his first question was how do myself and her communicate, she answered mostly in Russian and then he complimented my skills. The rest of the time he spent asking her mostly just about how we met because we met on a free dating website I think he just needed to clear up that and make sure it wasn't marriage broker or something. He then looked at our wedding reservation and told her congratulations he decided to approve her visa. He didn't even look at our photos or the financial documents I guess, and even ... read complete review

Originally, the interview was scheduled for Oct. 19. We were able to reschedule it for Oct. 12. My wife brought all the copies and originals of all the documents listed as necessary for the interview on both the Consulate and NVC websites. None of the docs was needed.Asked where we met, how many times the husband was married, how many children he had, where he works, how the parents took it, etc. After about 10 minutes of the conversation, she was told that her visa is approved and she can pick up her passport in one week.

I was really nervous about both medical and interview because we're a same-sex couple (both women), and because I'm not totally out, and because Russia has become really homophobic in the past few years. But everything went very well! At medical, I don't think they even knew the details of my petition. Everything and everyone there was strictly professional. My interview also went very well, and I'll try to tell it in as much detail as I can, so that other same-sex couples can have some references.

I was interviewed in Moscow on September 16th, 2016. My appointment time was 9:15. I got there much earlier and got in around 8:40. The security guards were polite and attentive.

Once inside, they directed me to a small hall #5. It was already full of people, maybe 15-18 in total. The hall was so small that with that few people inside it felt like it was overcrowded lol There were two windows there with Russian ladies behind them who took my documents (passport,... read complete review

My fiancée (a Russian citizen), her 10-year-old daughter and I went to the US Consulate in Moscow for the K1 visa interview in February 2016. Overall, the experience was very good. The only downside was that we sat in the waiting area for a few hours, but the interview itself went very smoothly and quickly. We were interviewed by two people (perhaps one was in training). The questioning was very easy; we got the feeling that they already knew they were going to approve us before the interview began. The interviewers were polite and relatively friendly. We were told we had been approved at the end of the interview.
